What is a Personal Accident Insurance cover?
This is an insurance cover that compensates the insured or their legal dependents in respect of death, permanent total disablement or temporary total disablement caused by violent, accidental, external and visible means while on or off duty.
How does Personal Accident Insurance work?
It works in such a way that it is supplemental to your primary health plan, that helps you pay for out- of-pocket medical and non-medical expenses from an accident or injury. Furthermore, the lump-sum cash benefits are paid directly to you on an indemnity basis.
What is not covered in Personal Accident Insurance Cover?
The cover does not extend coverage to sickness/disability/accidents which occur as a result of pre- existing conditions, pregnancy and childbirth, acts which were intentional, criminal or otherwise deliberately caused by you, being under the influence of alcohol or drug abuse and acts of war and terrorism.
What is the difference Between Temporary and Permanent Disability ?
Temporary disability renders the insured entirely incapable of attending to his daily business or his usual occupation for a certain period of time. Permanent Disability on the other hand renders the insured incapable of attending to their usual business or occupation, provided such disability is total, continuous and permanent
